Tips for staying healthy in summer


Here comes summer! it’s time to get ready for the scorching sun as well as heat. In summer you tend to feel so lazy, it is because of humidity. Summer also calls for a change in  diet and other healthy living tips.  Summer brings lots of problem like skin problems, change in your appetite, stress, sun-stroke and so on.  In other hand, summer eating could be enjoyable with fresh seasonal produce, outdoor eating and entertaining for special occasions or family gatherings.

I have listed few health care tips to help you stay healthy and safe this summer. This is what I usually do in summer to stay active and beat the heat.

Stay Hydrated

Hydration is the key, in summer you tend to sweat a lot so it is very important to keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water.  You can carry water with you in your bottle. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water. If you are bored of water you can make your own flavored water by dropping some fruits, drink coconut water or lemon water with some mints.

Always apply sunscreen

Always remember to apply sunscream before heading out, it is very important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Choose sunscreen according to your skin type and apply sunscreen of at least SPF 30. For sensitive skin, a mineral-based sunscreen is best. Avoid sitting in sun in peak hours and long period of time. Don’t forget to reapply suns cream every 4 hours.

 Take Cool Shower

Hot showers after sun exposure further leads to dry the skin. A cool shower after excess sweating helps keep the skin unblocked, and decreases acne breakouts. You can take cold shower going to bed it helps you to get sound sleep.

Summer Diet

Include lot of fruit and vegetable in your diet. There are lots of fruit and vegetables which is high in antioxidant and rich in water like berries, watermelon, cucumber, raw vital salads. Replace your snacks with your fruits and veggies. The water from these gets easily absorbed through the bloodstream and provides a cooling effect. Eat food that are easy to digest. Instead of drinking coffee and tea you can drink glucose water, fresh fruit juice which helps to keep body cool and hydrated.

Avoid Eating Spicy and Oily Food

You have to avoid eating spicy and oily food in summer time. You might love spices level high in you food but during summer time spices can heat up the body eating as they boost the rate of metabolism. Fried and Oily food can be great for your taste buds but it will have bad impact on your health, oily food may cause indigestion and gastric problems. It may also lead to break out in your face, so it is better that we avoid these kind of foods.

Keep up or Begin an Exercise Program

You can continue with your exercise regime or begin a new one. If you are working out outdoor you can change your exercise plan and take indoor exercise, join gym or also can watch some you-tube videos and start working out by yourself! If you only work out in a health club, take some time to do outdoor refreshing activities hiking, biking or swimming . Reconnecting with these activities will help keep your body and mind aligned.

Light Colored and Cotton Clothes

Light colored clothes reflects light and dark color absorbs so it is better that you switch to light colored and cotton clothes in summer. You can wear loose fitting cotton clothes to avoid heat and cotton clothes promotes absorption of sweat. You stay cooler because more air passes over your body.
